Yup! :)

Yes. The Mobile I/O has some of the best sounding converters for the money
you can find. I would compare the sound of the Mobile I/O's converters with
Apogee units (which I've owned); except with the Mobile I/O, the converters
cost under $100/channel, whereas the Apogee AD or AD 16 costs over
$200/channel.

I don't have a problem with them at all. Its not so much that the preamps
are noisy, its just that they are low gain. In other words, whereas a
dedicated preamp might have 70db of gain, the MIO has about 40db. This
means that with mics that need a serious boost, you end up pushing them
really hard, and the highest settings are of course noisier than lower
settings. But they sound great, and when you have a signal that needs
moderate amounts of additional gain, they work fantastically. Just don't
expect to power a ribbon mic!

Last night I mixed a 50 track song with a MASSIVE load of plugins on my dual
G4/533 (roughly similar power to your machine, slightly less), with all the
audio tracks coming off my FireWire drive. No glitches, no issues, no
problems, drive meter wasn't even taxed. (This is in OS9).
Hope that helps,
Orren
