Subject: [LUG] [GEN] How do I make a velocity fader on a VI?
Message #133975
I am somewhat ashamed to ask this here because I know it is a rather basic question an I am supposed to semi know what I am doing but... I want to make a velocity fader and cable it to a VI so I can put the velocity fader in a track and use it to do velocity fades creschendos decreshendos etc... How do I do this.

How do I do this. Since velocity is not a controller message, but a part of note messages, you will have to use a transformer to scale the velocity: 1) Create a transformer and set the conditions to select notes and the Vel operation to "MUL". 2) Create a meta-fader by choosing "Transformer Operation Par. 1" from the New/Fader/Specials menu. 3) Cable the fader into the transformer. 4) Cable the transformer to the VI. 5) Assign the transformer to the track for the MIDI data. 6) Use the fader in an environment window to control the velocity multiplication factor in real time. The full fader range will make the multiplier go from 0 to 1, which will give the velocity a range from 1 to the incoming note velocity. If you want the full velocity range, change all the notes to velocity 127. As an alternative, you could use the transformer's Scale operation, which allows you to add a constant to the velocity after scaling. Len www.Swiftkick.com
