Some companies (Roland >is the only one I can think of right now) decided to go against that >established standard and number from 1-128. It would be nice if >Logic had a switch for each Instrument to change from 0-127 to >1-128. Well, I kinda knew that internally MIDI is handled from 0-127, but following the original thread, your patch 0 is the first patch in a row, so personally I prefer saying "Patch One" or whatever. And yeah, it would be nice to switch that for every instrument inside Logic as synth manufactures doesn't seem to agree on some international standard. >This is not the case with bars/beats. It is very relevant that Bar67 >*is* the 67th bar. That's why assigning a different symbol to each >bar (or beat or whatever) like A-Z would be illogical and counter- >intuitive. For this same reason, it is counter-intuitive to start >bars/beats at zero. Oh, 100% agreed with that. Apart from that you'd have to rewrite like almost all music theoretical books, have to teach people to do their counting "0-1-2-3" instead of "1-2-3-4" (hehe, could it be that this was choosed because Zero has two syllables, not that nice to say in time with faster tempos? Anyways, in german "Zero" is "Null", so, wouldn't make too much of a difference...) and several other weirdos. Sascha
