My XSKey authorization window formerly showed "Authorized" (or
words
to that effect) for my registered Logic 5.5.0 Emagic products (LAP,
ES2 and EXS24mkII). Suddenly I have "activate Demo" on _all_
Emagic
products listed in the XSKey window.
Here's the full story:
* _all_ products show "activate Demo..." at this time.
* My registered products were labeled "Authorized" when I entered
their permanent codes (and remained so for months), but are
labeled "activate Demo..." now. They are working -- but for how
much
longer?
* The free synths are "activate Demo..." and work without being
activated. (I don't think I ever activated these before and I'll
certainly not activate them while they are working! ;^)
* the extra cost synths are "activate Demo...," and they don't
work.
They just post an invitation for me to activate them. Thus they are
the only items properly labeled. Wait, I lied. I activated EVB3's
Demo early on and it expired in due course. Therefore it is
incorrectly labeled now.
There is nothing about this problem on www.emagic.de, nor InfoWeb,
nor here on LUG that I can find.
I will post a request for help to info@..., but judging from
certain LUGers' experiences a response is not assured.
Has anyone encountered this problem? Any suggestions?
Thanks,
Bob Penick

I telephoned Emagic USA Support about this and was advised not to
touch anything since all tools I'm entitled to use are working and
since no expiration date is lying in wait for me (or so I'm told).
David, the tech, has not seen this problem before.
In the interests of time I did not press the matter further, but I
suspect the XSKey firmware has a bug. Perhaps a Demo period expired
and the firmware wrongly reset the labels of all products to
"activate Demo..." instead of updating the label of just the one
with
whatever.
If others experience this problem I hope they will post the news so
that it can be reported as a confirmed bug. Innocent people
shouldn't have to suffer the shock of seeing all their authorizations
disappear without warning.

Bob Penick
