I'm quite frustrated with trying to set up a score based on a few
simple MIDI tracks. The documentation is quite poor, in my opinion; and
sometimes it even seems inconsistent with the application (e.g.
identifying menus that simply aren't there).
I have three tracks (with multiple sequences) representing vocal parts;
and one track with a piano part. The confusion arises when I try to
apply score styles and subsequently edit them. It appears that all
tracks respond to edits in the Score Styles window in unison,
regardless of the style selected.
I selected the Piano score style at the bottom of the edit box of the
Arrange window, while my piano track was selected. Chose Treble for the
vocal tracks. However, when I bring up a Score Edit window for the
piano track, I get a single, Treble staff; when I open the Score Styles
window from the Score Edit window, the Treble style is apparently
selected. Switching to Piano at this point has no effect on the score
display for the piano track; however, editing the Treble style seems to
(although it affects the vocal tracks, as well).
Is there some sort of edit mode I'm missing?
This is extremely confusing and frustrating! Would appreciate any
pointers.

Dear chris
The immediate answer to your query is this:
Forget the arrange page. Go to the score page. Select your
instrument, and in the top left hand box, click and hold on the score
style and select a likely one from the pull-down menu. You will now
see its name in the score style place. Double-click on it and the
score style window will appear, where you can change the number of
voices, staves, and most unintuitively, the channels. You need to
RTFM about the channels, but the point to note is that unless one
voice is allocated to no channel, you can have notes that don't
appear on the score if they've been put in, say, in Channel 5, but
your piano score style only has 4 channels.
Repeat process for other instruments, and save your edited score
styles in your Autoload.
For the best tutorial on the score page, go to
http://members.aon.at/prischl/ where you can buy Johannes Prischl's
invaluable guide to it. I don't use Logic for scoring any more, but
when I did, I blessed his name. Regards Brian
