Subject: [LAM] Mac (LAMP 5.5) user working on PC
Message #131700
I need to do some work on the Windows platform. Will my XSkey work on a PC? Also, regarding VST-plugs: Could I just bring my VST plugs from the Mac to the PC or are there different versions (Mac & PC) of the VST plugs? Thanks, Gunnar

The VST plug-ins are different code for Mac and PC, so you have to load up with the PC versions.

Sorry, no :-( The PC and the Mac use completely different microprocessors, so not a chance. But, the built-in plugins in Logic will, because they are already inside Logic on both platforms. That said, did the plugins you buy come in PC and Mac flavours? Surely then you could install the PC binaries on the PC, and keep the Mac binaries on the Mac. Not sure how the licensing issue pans out though... The Emagic VST plugins (I have EXSP24 and EVP73) use the CD as the licence key, so it should be possible to carry your licence with you in the form of CDs. Just take of them! The XSKey needs a separate registration code for each platform. As a Windows user I got a free Mac code but I'm not sure if LAM owners have to pay for the Windows code or not... I was under the impression that Emagic normally charged a fee for the other-platform-code but existing Windows users were getting it for free due to the Apple purchase. Jeremy

Really? My BigBox just had the one XSKey and one code, independent of platform, and all boxes said "Mac/Windows". > As a Windows user I got a free Mac code When I switched I didn't even get a code, just moved across to the Mac and carried on as normal. It may be that Logic Audio (Silver/BigBox/whatever) is a different situation to Platinum?
