So ALL:
- SoftSynths/SoftSampler (EXS24, ES2 NI, Spectrasonics, UVIs),
- Effect Plug-Ins (Waves, Logic) and
- Audio tracks
Get one processor while the other handles MIDI? So if you have one
MIDI instrument (Yamaha P200 as an 88 note controller) connected to
your MIDI interface and you record one maybe two MIDI tracks at a time
and they are all soft synths then record them to audio (then repeat the
process over and over) you are not going to be putting much strain on
the "MIDI processor" in an MP G4. But the "Audio
Processor" is going to
be working harder and harder each time you dump your MIDI to audio.
If this is true it doesn't seem like a very efficient use of MP in G4s.
Even if you had ALOT of MIDI activity going on it would'nt put much
strain on a Dual MP 1 GIG machine. I would hope that at LEAST the MAC
OS, Logic Graphics, etc... would be using the "MIDI Processor" and
the
"Audio Processor" was just be for Audio (Effects, Soft Synths,
Tracks..)
Thanks

Well it takes a bit of creativity to utilize the MP. Live inputs, and
the selected VSTi or logic instruments use the "Midi" processor.
If you have an audio interface with multi I/O, try this workaround.
Take an output, assign a send to go to that output. Take the output,
and, using an audio cable, route it to an available input. Insert a FX
to the live input. You are using the second processor. I set up my
system with 4 live inputs and outputs, and get at least a few extra
reverbs going that otherwise wouldn't be going.
So with a little work, you CAN use the second processor.

In the interests of accuracy processor 2 handles MIDI & graphics.

And live inputs, or the selected VSTi or virtual instrument selected in
the arrange window.
