I´d suggest: Universal Slave Driver Word-Clock-Out into first 888-24 (connect 2nd. 888-24 WC-In to 1st. one WC-Out). Both 888-24s via the Y-Cable to Mix-Core, Adat-Bridge via the 2nd Y-Cable to Mix-Farm. Use the Midi-Time-Piece only for Midi (no Word-Clock!). The question is: how do you use your Adat? That alters the configuration... I connect my Adat via lightpipe to the Adat-Bridge and set the Adat to digital-sync, but I don´t need Adat-Sync at all... Peter --- http://www.merlinsound.de

I had the XT and the MTP and everything worked with the 2 888 and the mixplus... now I intoduced the AdatBridge 'cause I have to do some transfers (24track session on three tapes) so I got lost in wordclock land and the manuals simply do not have this configuration... Anyhow in a pro forum like this one seeks help and not sarcasm, one works hard and makes the investements one feels are appropriate, the reason one no one helped to set it up is because used gears don't come with tech support... Thank you Peter, right now I do have the Y cables set as yours and I will try the word clock configuration you suggest. I also only need the adat for transfeing but I do have a three tapes (24 track) session and I thought I needed the syncing of the word clock so I connected the word clock out of the MTP to the USD and also the9 pin adat sync tfrom the MTP o the XT for MMC (which works) but somehow I can't the tacks to play in the software... I'll try your set up and let you know. Saverio

You would have to put the Adat bridge on the first card and use the ADAT as the master clock, else it will not lock properly (and won't see adat sync). I don't recommend it since the ADAT has such a bad clock. What he really probably needs is a BRC so as to be able to send word clock to the ADAT. That way it wouldn't have to be the master. Then the above configuration would work, except you would take the super clock out of the USD and into the 1st 888, and then take the USD WC out into the BRC. Even with everything set up properly, the ADAT is so bad that you will likely still get some pops now and then as it struggles to keep locked to incoming clock. This goes for either configuration. This goes for either configuration. Well, I dont have any problems clocking the ADAT via lightpipe from the Adat Bridge, even with the Adat Bridge being slaved to my 888s. Just set the Adat´s clock to Digital. It works. When I have to sync more tapes than I have Adats I sync the 8-track packets afterwards in Logic or ProTools, so I don´t need timecode sync to/from the Adat (which doesn´t really work reliably in Logic AFAIR anyway). I try to get some seconds of the same signal on each of the tapes while recording, that helps lining them up later... Peter --- http://www.merlinsound.de
