Subject: [LAM] Colorizing Markers
Message #131544
Greetings, What's the trick to colorizing markers in LAP 5.5 (not the text, but the background)? I used to know how to do this but I can't get it to happen. Is this a recent bug, or have i just forgotten the technique? Thanks, -Mark

No matter how I try I cannot get this to work on my G4 with 5.5. Has anyone got this working?

>No matter how I try I cannot get this to work on my G4 with 5.5. >Has anyone got this working? I use it religiously with version 5.5 as it makes it super easy to see what section you are one (I have specific colors for specific song sections types ). My procedure is pretty much same as Colin's though. I open the edit marker text window, then press command (apple) key and while holding it down click on a color in the color pallet (opt+c). In the Text Marker window, just click or option-click a colour (at least: I _think_ it's option instead of command). One will colour the selected text and the other will colour the background. Don't remember which does which though. And of course you have to _select_ the text first :-). No need to switch off the T button. It has worked for me for several years and still works (G4 Dual 1.25/LAMP 5.5) Are you in OS9 or OSX? (shouldn't matter) What actually happens? Does the text remain but the marker is uncoloured? Please elaborate... Regards - Colin

Well thanks for your help :) So in the marker window "select the text then click on a color to color the text" fine, "select the text then any modifier key click on a color, that colors the background in the marker window, fine, But, isn't that then supposed to transfer to the marker bar at the top of the arrange page? cause thats the bit that won't work! Well thanks all for your comments, some more helpful than others :) I have been trying to get this to work in OS 10.2.3. ??? It does color the text and the marker window background but it will not show in the arrange window? Coloring markers is easy and fun...and helps immensely to keep track of one's location in the song at a glance. Just open a "marker text" window and go to local menu "face">"object colors". Option-click on a color. The background of the marker will change when you close the "marker text" window. If you only want to change the text color, don't use the option key. I'd go to 9.2 and try it there but as a Mac newbie????????????? Mike

Could be done before. Can't be done on my G4. Logic 5.5 OS X 10.2.3. Even worse: after fiddling around with the markers for some minutes Logic crashed ... I did colorize my markers before, so that's not the reason Regards, Armin

It will change it in the text window but that change is not reflected in the arrange window. And why a separate text and list window? They seem to share quite a bit of functionality... Todd

Message #131679
This is a reply to #131659.
I've noticed that more often than not, when I quit 5.5 under 10.2.3, the application will close out all the windows and then throw up a "application has unexpectedly quit" message. I've also seen this type of thing with Stuffit. Anyone else seeing this? I don't notice any corruption of the data files. I don't have to reboot, but it is a bit disconcerting. Todd

Message #131680

Running under OS9 my machine behaves fine...sleeps and shuts down when told (dual 1Gig pre-blowhole, 2x72 scsi, Digi001, motu896, motu microxpress usb). Under OSX, when it sleeps the fan doesn't shut down, and when I try to shut down it decides to reboot instead. Aside from the machine telling me I need to do more work, anyone else seeing this kind of behavior? Todd

No need to switch off the T button. LAMP 5.5... You're right about the T button. I realise that I do that without thinking because I open the palette with a key command (letter o) and unless I switch off the T, I end up simply typing "o" in my marker. Doh! .....senior moment.....
