MOTU PCI cards (except for the newest one that was just introduced) use up a
HUGE portion of the PCI Bandwidth. If you use MOTU, UAD-1 and Powercore, you
are asking for troubles (personal experience speaking here).
RME and other PCI based cards take up a fraction of the bandwidth of the
MOTU card - be forewarned =)

Hi John!
I have a MOTU 1224 in my PM G4 500MP and am considering a Powercore
card. Do you think that might get me into trouble?
Peace!

How does the new MOTU card compare with RME?

By the 'new one' are you referring to the HD 192 card? Or the 2408-mk3?
I've heard that the Digi 001 is also a 'pci hog' - any word on that?
Anyone have info/news on the 192 cards/interface?
How about pci buss load in general - is there any way to monitor that?
I'm considdering buying the Motu 192 system when it comes out ( instead
of the 001), and am wondering whether i shouldn't get rid of my scsi
card and the internal pci to ata/ide card (and move to ext. firewire)
to lighten the load on the pci buss. But then, it's hard to tell if the
cpu in general is getting bogged down, the pci buss specifically is to
'full' or the actual drives are too slow..
Hope you don't mind my ranting...
any tips / thoughts appreciated.
Thanks

If you use Motu (I have a 24i a 2408 and a 1296) and Powercore is it OK ?
Why adding an UAD-1 and not a second Powercore ?
Thanks in advance.

I had a 001, moved to Motu no more PCI buss too busy errors (2048 mkii + 24i
+ 1296)
Also the Motu sound manager driver is multitask (you can open Itunes and
Logic) with 001 driver you get Direct I/O error

I hope you are right.
Half an hour later and no new drivers at their place.

... and then 10 minutes later, another message apologizing for jumping
the gun. It's crackle crackle for a while longer yet.
