Very rarely do I get involved in "discussions" of this type, but
in the
interests of stopping the thread and getting back to the point of what this
newsgroup is about....namely helping one another with the software...here
we go...
I, and many other long-time users of Logic and subscribers to this list for
years have seen thousands of angry posts....often pointing out flaws in the
software.... and often not without some justification.
Much of this anger was directed at inneficient performance, poor
documentation, missing features/facilities and having to wait for
updates....among others.
There has also been a lot of comment about Emagic's "arrogance",
"bad
attitude to customers" a.s.o. and other messages complaining about less
significant details like the instrument icons.
To this, I'd like to say that these types of posts are completely valid to
the individual that posted them and any perceived shortcomings that you
personally find in LAW or LAM will piss you off....of course ;-))
The catch-22 is that if you have an "issue" with LA or Emagic,
then venting
your spleen on the list does little for either the community or yourself as
it doesn't sate your anger and benefits no other users.
As a different approach, might I suggest a more "zen" and
constructive
attitude where you ask people if there's a way around a particular
problem...and if not, then use the wishlist on Joeri's site to ask for
facilities.
Emagic DO actually read this.
With regard to Emagic's "arrogance"....again, this is based on
individual
perception....but, as an "old-timer" with the software....
I've gotta say that Emagic have "arrogantly" added thousands -
literally -
of features requested on this group....and rest assured, the facilities
mentioned in that "German magazine" will show up at some
time....maybe soon.
This group and the wish list have always been the way Emagic have learnt
about the facilities that we, the users, want and has always been the way
that they update the program/s...by listening to us.
Admittedly, updates never come soon enough if you're really hanging out for
a function that will make your life easier ;-))
A last point I'd like to make is that this is a USER group, not an
"official" Emagic-run list. Emagic's staff don't HAVE TO
participate here,
they CHOOSE TO.
This is a good thing because, as mentioned, our discussion and requests
(not rants) drive the software's development.
And trust me.....and all the other long-term LUGgers....it's much better
having someone from Emagic here than not having them here.
If you ask around, or look back through the mcc archives you'll see the
LUG's golden age where Gerhard Lengeling himself used to participate -
before one of the user's "arrogance" (yes, we can do it too!) saw
Gerhard
(and many of the other core programmers and personalities at Emagic) opt
out.
Sorry for this post....but calm will always win out.
If you have any flames or comments, then please post them to me privately
rather than continuing this ultimately futile thread.
