Subject: [LAM] This is what Core Audio is all about
Message #128536
I just reinstalled my old Audiowerk 2 card, and downloaded the OS X drivers. For fun, I launched iTunes, Reason 2.0, and Logic 5.5. All three applications are open, and I press play in iTunes ("Catch Me If You Can" soundtrack), open a demo song in Reason and press play, and open an EXS in Logic. I start playing the keyboard. I hear all 3 sound sources out of the AW at the same time, with no glitches or pops. My Triton is controlling _both_ Logic and Reason (via Core MIDI/amt8) and each application is playing live with no noticable latency. In other words, while Reason is playing, I am playing along live on one sound module, and the EXS is playing along as well. I have just layered a piano (EXS) and a string (Reason) sound via two soft synth applications, and am playing them live out of the same audio output. This is so much fun. I can't wait for my MOTU interface to be native OS X. encephalon Lush Music

I can't wait for my MOTU interface to be native OS X. Thanks for the report. I'm very pleased to hear about this as I own an AW8 myself. Now I now I can keep it if I should buy a Mac. My recent Macs are both "pre USB" and I'm now using Logic on a fast P4 PC. Best wishes Per Boysen ________________ www.boysen.se www.looproom.com

Subject: [LUG] [LAM] Could I use my G4 as a VST "host" type thing...
Message #129093
This is a reply to #128557.
My current 350Mhz G4's lease is finally over, and soon I'll be getting a newer dual-processor machine. My stupid question of the day is, could I use my old G4 as a VST host within Logic somehow? This is a stretch, but are there any type of VST Host programs that'd work with Logic, without having to buy additional XSkey authorizations and whatnot. Any ideas? It'd be a shame to have this old G4 sitting around while it could be crunching VST Instruments instead... @
