Subject: [GEN] updating to logic 5
Message #128517
I need help/advice. I've been using LAP or two years but still feel like kind of a newbie. I am in the process of updating to Logic 5 from 4.7. I just bought a new dual G4. I have not received the update yet but in the meantime have reinstalled logic on to the new mac. Problem is, my dongle is a serial dongle not a USb, so I can't get logic going. When I receive the update and the new XS key, will I have any problems getting logic to run? Can anyone out there who has performed this update give me any other help advice to making this transition a smooth one? Or am I in for weeks of pain getting this thing going? A few encouraging words, please ... Nick Pip

Unless you have unusual problems the update should be very smooth. V5 of Logic converts your 4.xx songs very quickly and the XSKey has been no problem for me. I find the USB key very nice and I have had no problems starting with it, unlike the old dongle where I had two or three "can't find the dongle" messages a week. --- In logic-users@yahoogroups.com, Nick Pipitone <nick@p...> wrote: > I need help/advice. Hi, There is no problem : 1) You can run Logic 4.7 with the new dongle (get the special extension on Emagic web site) 2) You do not need the dongle to update 4.7 to 5.5, you will need it only when you start Logic Cyril

I had allocated several days to get everything switched over, but I was ready to roll in just a few hours! My permanent codes arrived very quickly, after I pre- registered online and sent the old stuff back. Good luck! Rob DeBoer
