Thanks Sascha, I hadn't realised it could make sequences as well as
quantizing them.
I checked the archives (better late than never) and some users rave about
this groove feature while others don't. I suspect it depends on how
consistent & clean the source material is, as it seems a fairly simple
operation (just tedious to do by hand). How convenient are the controls? Any
bad stuff I should know about?

They both look promising so I've grabbed the demos and will try in due
course. Thanks guys, I was beginning to think the audio-to-MIDI path was a
dead end, but now the winter nights will simply fly past.
