Supposedly Apple is working on multiple (2-4) CPU G4's for around February (Mystic is the code name) - a 4 processor G4 sure would go a long way towards closing that gap (both performance and price ;-) - once the software supports it (there's the kicker). How cool would it be to put mixing/automation on one G4 processor and plugins on another, etc, etc. The gap here is the test of time for fast changing technology - lots of music to be done before that one closes. I doubt Digi will sit idle with the current Mix system. FWIW, Dedric 64-track, 24-bit DAW that allows tape-like operation (and >speed and accuracy), nothing comes close. It really is a small price >for what you are getting. >-george > >P.S. Perhaps the next revision of Pro Tools will be multiple G4s on a >PCI card.
