Right then...
I'm in the process of making a controller for my logic/scope setup...
The controller is based on the designs of Thorsten Klose and his MBHP
modules (www.uCapps.de). I want to have a transport section, including using
a rotary encoder to act as a scrubb dial which will control the SPL. Here is
what the current firmware allows for MIDI implementation for the encoders:
o min/max values for encoders
o Sending absolute values: xx xx [from min to max]
o Sending relative events: xx xx 40 +/- speed
o Sending relative events: xx xx 00 +/- speed
o Sending relative events: xx xx 40 +/- 1
o Sending relative events: xx xx 00 +/- 1
o Sending relative CC events: CC Inc/Dec xx
o Meta Events allow you to define SysEx strings and more
I hooked up a midi data viewer app to see msgs are sent when u control the
SPL (ff, rw, play, stop etc) it seems to send out various system msgs - 1 to
tell where the SPL is, if it's stop, play etc...
My Q is how do i go about setting up control of the SPL, i'm guessing it's
gonna involve some enviro action if it's possible at all...
Any knowledge on this one is appreciated...

No; there are key commands which can also be toggled by MIDI events.
The Contour Shuttle Pro by http://www.contouravs.com generates key
commands when you turn the shuttle wheel. It comes with a Logic
Preferences file (included in
http://www.contouravs.com/cav_os8_9_update_settings.html)
