Dual 500 G4 768 Mg RAM
Lacie Firewire Hard Disc
Stealth Port
Sonorus ADAT Card
2 x AMT Unitor 8 on stealth port
System 9.2
Logic Platinum 5.3 with exs24
Mackie DB8
Got a BIG problem...
I've worked with logic since version 1.0 and frankly my dear im
confused..
Is it logic 5 that is riddled with bugs? Or is it me?
Please tell me if you have any known conflicts with extensions, Plug ins
or any advice you can think of...
I am getting crashes literally every five minutes
With no seeming regularity between the causes
Sometimes it works for a whole hour!
Can't work at all...
Spoken to the helpline - no help...
Reinstalled the Mac : formatted the drive : reinstalled everything again
No Joy exactly the same.... made two version of logic
One without plug-ins installed one with.. no joy
Removed also a scsi card that was in the mac no joy...
It was an adaptec card could this have caused a hardware fault?
It may have been an old one>..
Could it be the stealth port?
Any known issues between stealth port and sonorous
Any software issues with any major progs?
Thanks for any help

What OS are you using?
Have you tried zapping the PRAM?
I had problems too after installing 5 - but I've since become sure it's
nothing to do with Logic.
In my case, I believe that a SCSI card is the culprit - or more to the
point, a badly designed connector on the card causing an unstable connection
and random system lockups. At least I hope that's the reason! (I'm about to
purchase a new card, but was going to go for an Adaptec one!)
All I can suggest is to disconnect all uneccessary cards and hardware. Try
running Logic with the bare minimum of extensions and hardware, and see if
your problems go away.
Have you run Disc First Aid on the Lacie and System drives?
If you're using the Lacie for Audio, what happens if you take it out of the
equation and run Audio from your system drive?
I don't believe that LAMP5 is full of bugs, or I believe that we'd be
hearing a lot more on this list!
All I can suggest is a long, drawn out process of elimination!
Hi Thrash!
I had the same problem after inserting a new 256K Memory Simm (or was
it Dimm?) into my G4 that had a manufacturing failure. Took an apple
repair service and actually quite a bit of money to find that out.
Hope this helps and good luck.

Frankly, this sounds like a hardware problem to me. I run LAMP 5 on
a G4 as well, and with hardly a crash ever. Rock solid, really. And
I have every extension loaded you can think of, so that's not the
problem... Lots of software installed, doing all kinds of things in
a day, and still no problema...

I too have an Adaptec SCSI card...

Well, after running whichever M$ application, I tend to restart the
Mac before attempting to launch Loogic. Not necessary per se, but
the crashes I _did_ have were mostly right after running some M$
piece of &^%$.
I would try hardware stuff if I were you. Pull out the cards you
don't really need (SCSI, 2nd monitor, whatever), and try again. Or,
as another poster suggested, pull out RAM boards one by one and try
again. A crash every 5 minutes really is _not_ normal.
