hi
i recently moved from Logic on OS 9 to Logic on OS X and found a
startling improvement in the number of Multipressors i can use on my
dual 1.25 mac (this is the ONLY plug-in performance improvement i've seen,
BTW). in Logic 5.3 on OS 9, i could run 15 of them before maxing out
the CPU - in 5.3 on OS X i can run 51 of them before maxing out CPU.
same song - almost 3.5 times the performance.
so i was wondering how many multipressors PC users can get with
various hardware? does this improvement i'm seeing on X demonstrate
an improvement for macs with OS X, or does it merely bring mac
Multipressor code efficiency up to PC Multipressor code efficiency?
i'm not looking for a mac v. pc war. PCs are faster, they win. i'm
just trying to understand the improvement i'm seeing.
also, this improvement isn't related to my second processor. logic on
X uses the same multiprocessor threading as Logic on 9.
thanks in advance for any reports.

Probably crossing over to Mac within the next year I´m sorry to report
that
I could get 84 stereo multipressors (using the performance test from
www.digitalnaturalsound.com/logic_dsp/index.shtml) and this is on a 1800 MHz
P4 with the Hammerfall card. Imagine using a 2800 MHz and we´re past
100,
double up from your result, very annoying.
