Dave Eager has contributed a multi for the new DLS synth built into OS X [formerly the QT synth] to the LUG Environment collection: http://www.swiftkick.com/lugenv/synth/dlssynth.zip Thanks, Len www.Swiftkick.com

Of course, it would need an editor, so... - does we have one somewhere?

Yes and no. The DLSMusicDevice itself is capable of loading soundfonts, but it's up to a programmer to provide the interface. I don't know whether Emagic is planning on doing this or not, or whether some third-party is doing [or has done] it. [It's interesting to note though, there is a preset folder for DLSMusicDevice installed in 5.4, yet at this stage the plugin UI is blank.] You can find a standalone version in Pete Yandell's 'Simple Synth' http://pete.yandell.com/software/ Somebody who has a deeper knowlege of Core Audio than I, might be able to tell us more about what we can and can't do at this stage. of course, any user soundfonts installed will have user-defined bank/program change, so the Multi I posted is just for the gs_instruments.dls which is the set which loads by default in the DLSMusicDevice as it stands at the moment. > Of course, it would need an editor, so... > - does we have one somewhere? Once you have a DLSMusicDevice AudioUnit plugin which loads user banks, there are SoundFont editors to be found on the net. Dave Eager

Of course... And it was nice from you to share it, even if it can't do anything else. Let's just hope that someone comes with a way to edit and store new banks on this device. It could be a good alternative as an SF2 player, since there are great SF2 banks available for free in the Net (if memory is not limited). Regarding the editors - are you sure there are some already running on the Mac?

There is also a thread on replacing the default DLS on http://www.macosxhints.com [I haven't yet tried it, but will report back when I do.] Dave Eager
