Subject: GEN: what's a SMPTE bit, frame etc.
Message #123005
In the interests of accurate record timing, I need to nudge some newly-recorded regions 320 samples later in time (only tracks that I was monitoring through Logic, not tracks that were source-monitored). Ticks are a really bad idea for this, being tempo-dependent, so I'd like to use one of the SMPTE-nudge keycommands... What's the smallest SMPTE measurement? A bit? If so, what proportion of a frame is it? If my frame-rate is 25fps in sync settings, am I right in thinking that's always 1764 samples per frame, at a 44.1kHz sample rate? I am not synchronised to external SMPTE... John Pitcairn ----------------------------------------------------------------- Got midi fader/knob hardware? Want to control/automate Logic? Unfortunately, "nudge event by SMPTE bits +1" produces odd results - it appears to snap to the nearest tick anyway (not very accurate, and wildly inaccurate at slower tempos), and will only allow me to nudge + by a few steps, not the 15 or so I need. I _can_ "nudge event by SMPTE bits -1" as many steps as I want. Any idea why? John Pitcairn ----------------------------------------------------------------- Got a controller?
