Hi,
I'm new to his group and also somewhat new to Logic. I can't seem to
figure out how to control the cutoff on the EVOC20 ps through midi.
That synth's controls are supposed to be 60-something to 90-something
and none of the controls in that range are a cutoff control. Control
74 is LPF freq, which I thought might be it bit it doesn't seem to be
when I change the values. I want to be able to control the cutoff in
the same way that you can when you turn the cutoff knob on the synth
interface. Will I have to resort to recording knob movements during
playback or something? If so, how do I do that? Any help here is
much appreciated.
Thanks,
Steve

Hi Steve,
If you purchased the original EVOC20 you got a manual in the box.
In that manual you will find the controller settings for EVOC.
I do have EVOC20, but not here with me, so I cannot give you the
controllers..
All the best

Unfortunately I don't have the manual. If anybody can help me out
here I would be enternally thankful.

I guess I'll assume that you just don't have the manual because
you're using the 30 day demo of the EVOC20 included with any Logic v5
purchase... though the fact that you're still using 5.1 when 5.3 is
the latest version (and well worth the update) makes me wonder a
little. I do wish there was better documentation for all of the demo
plugins included with Logic though, as I could of made much better
use of my demos.
If you update to 5.2 or 5.3 (a free update for all paying customers),
you could use John Pictarin's Fadermapper and it can automatically
map your synth's knobs etc to the controls in EVOC20. Just flip
Fadermapper into LEARN mode, move a knob on your synth, move the knob
in EVOC20 through its full range of motion, then flip Fadermapper
back into MAP mode. Viola, you don't even have to worry about CC
numbers, and it even can scale the 1-128 values a knob sends out to
1-100, 1-4, or whatever the range of the knob/slider/etc is in a
plugin. This is only possible in versions 5.2 and above though.

pharmakon,
To find what controller to use, open the enviornment go to the audio layer.
Go to new>monitor and connect the track with your evoc on it. Move the
cutoff and you should see some numbers in the monitor. These are the
channel and CC #. Look into Henrick Jan Veenstra's tutorials on
enviornments....they taught me quite a bit...mostly that logic need a 'learn
midi controller' feature.

tried what you said but there aren't any numbers coming up in the
monitor. Is there a certain setting that I should be aware of?
thanks, S.

No they're not - in version 5 and up, they are the channel and
Fader event number. The Fader event number won't be the same
as the CC event number, though you can use either.
There's no good way to identify the CC #s other than trial & error
or looking in the manual.
You can of course transform your incoming CC event to the
appropriate Fader event, which requires a bit of environment
faffing-around - see Hendrik's tutorial, or the Logic 5.2 update
readme.
Or just check out the Fadermapper demo as Jeremy "Matrin"
suggested ;-)

I had that happen when developing Fadermapper. I think it's a
bug in 5.1. Try refreshing the window (assign a keycommand to
"redraw window" or click the little grey square in the top right
corner of the window). Won't do you any good though - see my
previous post.
I highly recommend an upgrade to 5.2+ (it's free).

Got a controller? Wish there was a midi learn function in Logic?
Try the Fadermapper demo:

hello all...
first off, this may be a bit off center, as im not sure it is 100% logic
related. if need be, feel free to email me off the list.
last nite, i was working on a song. i went to bed, didnt shut anything down,
just left it up to work on this morning when i got up. when i got up this
morning, i had a strange loss of sound in everything EXCEPT logic. my
windows media player, winamp, acid, sound forge, etc, nothing puts out any
sound. i can try to play a loop in sound forge and nothing, however if i
import it as an audio file to logic it plays fine.
ive gotten some strange error messages as well, and even gotten a few
"error
syncing midi" messages from logic too, but when i would close and
reopen it
would be fine (in logic).
i scanned for viruses, re-assigned the outs on my soundcard to make sure
they were correct, etc.
im quite nervous about this, to be honest. my OS consists of winXP, 1.6ghz
chip, 512 megs of ram and an echo mia soundcard. i just purchased this
machine about 6 months ago for the specific purpose of running audio only
apps.
any help would be enormously appreciated. its getting to the point where i
am scared i may have to format or something drastic like that.
thank you...

hi again
more on my horror story. whenever i try to open up all of my songs except
for one or two i am getting a message saying "the system cannot find
the
file specified. result code = 2"
has anyone run across this message? what does it mean =/
im scared im going to have to wipe the entire drive clean.

Hi,
did you already shut down and restart your pc?
Did you memorize some of the other error messages?
What audio-hardware you are running?
Best Jochen
Hi,
2 is the internal error code for 'file not found'. This can mean anything
that is preventing a file from being opened. If it happens not just with
a single file, it could be a common directory path name containing
invalid characters or something like that.
And - Logic doesn't like FILE names longer than 32 characters (old Mac
heritage, even in LAW), maybe that holds true for directory names as well.
Check all directory names within your song path.

Even after you reboot?
