Subject: [LUG] [CROSS] Stopping PC sales - a bad idea

There would be no more copies of Logic Windows available after the dealers exhaust their inventory. This is sad. Wouldn't it been a better situation if the sale of Logic Windows were allowed to continue. They could have frozen development on Logic Windows at version 5.x and continued on with the extraordinary development utilizing CoreAudio, CoreMIDI, AudioUnits on Mac OSX and beyond. How would it hurt, if a product is frozen but sold so long there is a demand. As it is, Logic Platinum is the best MIDI sequencer on planet earth. I have a very stable setup using 2 AMT8 units, Logic Control and SoundDiver running happily on Win98SE. I would use this setup for at least a year till the new G5 Macs come out. By cutting off the PC sales completely, it would prevent a lot of PC users from getting a feel for the power and potential of Logic. The only way left open is to download a cracked version - is that a good solution? Tapas.

Emapple are legally responsible for maintaining LAW until 2 yrs after they stop producing it - thus they have to define a cut-off date. The longer LAW is officially sold the later this 2 yr product support screws up valuable resources. Whilst I am a LAW user I can understand the strategy from a business view. I am curious as to whether one will still be able to buy the LAW V5 upgrade from distributors ... I'll check this a little later. Tony Perretta
