Hi
I'm starting now to learn about ReWire in Logic Audio 5.0 and I've
started to do it with Rebirth 2.0.
As I'm a newbie to this, many doubts are comming. Part of the whole
list is bellow:
A - First I used something called "rb330.lso", which I think is an
environment for Rebirth. I also used the settings described bellow.
A.1. you must have virtual internal midi-driver installed like
"hubi`s loopback" or a soundcard which have some internal ones
like the ews64( virtual midi#1....? ).
A.2.setup rebirth:
go to the preferences. in the midi input section make the following
settings: 1. choose your virtual midi-driver. it must match the
virtual
midi-driver of the rb338control-object! 2.if you are running rebirth
with rewire, disselect the midi-sync, otherwise you have enable
midi-sync.
3.enable "remote midi control" 4.choose a midi-channel number (the
channel
number must be the same as in the rb338control-object, the default is
16).
5.select "use rebirth`s standard mapping" and do not edit nothing!
CONCLUSIONS: I've record something which has such a low volume and
high noise. Could not be used!
QUESTION: Do I need "hubi`s loopback" with a Yamaha SW1000 XG
soundcard?
B - After I read the article
http://www.tweakheadz.com/sequencing_with_reason.html which can be
used with Rebirth also (has someone told me).
According with my understanding, the procedure is very simple. Just
pick up two "audio inst" tracks, mix them and follow the order
Start
Logic => Start Rebirth : Shut down Rebirth => Shut down Logic.
CONCLUSIONS: The option MIX L or MIX R did not appear in the Inst
parameters of Logic. Could not record anything.
QUESTION: What is wrong? (Embedded image moved to file: pic24464.gif)
C - What is the difference between control Rebirth via Logic with MIDI
and Rewire it?
Sorry for such a big post but the doubts are so many.....and the
knowlege is so small (Embedded image moved to file: pic05705.gif)
I will wait for your help. Thanks
Rui

Hi Rui!
I just checked my setup (Reason 2.0 and Logic 5.3), and I got the
channels to show up in the instrument parameters. (Choose Audio tracks
and not Audio Instrument tracks by the way).
I did things in the following order:
Start Logic
Start Reason
Select Audio 1 in Logic
Click Channel parameters
A windows pops up
In the parameter list, select Instruments
This shows a new popup window with a lot of instruments in it. The final
entry in the list is Other, and selecting this opens up yet another
window. The first is MIX L. Select this.
Pan this channel hard left.
Select Audio 2 in Logic and repeat, only select MIX R instead of MIX L,
and pan this channel hard right.
This works with Reason. If it doesn't work with Rebirth, then I am
afraid I can't help you as I don't have Rebirth on my system.
Hope this helps,

Thanks helge
I've tried to do what you told me in your post and I was able to do
it but only with Reason (Demo). With Rebirth was not possible.
I was able to control Reason from Logic 5 and also from Cubase SX
1.03 (control = Play, Stop) but I could not record anything in any of
these sequencers.
Do you have any idea why does this happend?
Plase note that I have only made what you explain to me before,
nothing else. Maybe some more procedures are required....
Some more help would be appreciated.

In order to record the audio from Reason, you'll need to bounce the
output. Click the Bounce-button on the output fader in Logic, and you
will be asked for a filename to save the audio to. When this is done you
can import the audio to a regular audio track.
If you want to add logic tracks to the song, you can do that, and then
bounce the finished song with both reason and logic tracks. Bouncing the
reason track first and then using the resulting audio file is probably
less processor-intensive though. Running Reason and Logic at the same
time puts some added strain on the CPU.
