Subject: [LUG] [GEN] Mixdown question
Message #120400
I know there has been discussion of this in the past, and I will try all variations for myself, but what is everyone's opinion on the bounce process for mixing down? I have a tune ready to mix, with around 30 tracks. I can mix it down using the bounce facility, which would enable me to create a 24 bit file (and should I dither?). Or, I can record digitally to my Tascam DA-30, which would be 16 bits of course. In theory, 24 bits should be better, but some people have complained about the quality of Logic's bouncing... As I said, I will try for myself, but I thought that some of the golden ears on the list might have some useful input. I'll post my results about 16-bit bounce vs. 24-bit bounce vs. 16-bit DAT transfer. -smeet
