Yeah, I wish that the backgrounds of non-topped windows would grey out, or something. Logic is the only program I've ever used which allows you to operate on background windows, which I've eventually come to appreciate. But it becomes SO easy to lose track of which window is topped. I use a custom kaleidoscope scheme with a really obnoxious border (yellow and red stripes) so I can keep tabs on my topped window, (it also has BeOS-type titlebars, which are SO useful in logic!) but I still screw up periodically. In the limited-case example you mention, make sure you lock objects in the environment (from its view menu), and then all you have is an annoying dialog box to deal with, and you won't have to go around reconstructing your mixer.. e > From: "F.S.
