Actually, it does. Many reverb algorithms have a tendency to boost low
frequencies in weird ways*. Cutting low freqs going into a reverb can make
the sound a lot smoother, less boomy/muddy.

This will have a dramatic effect on the tonal shape of the sound, but if
you don't EQ the sound before, many times you're just shaping a sound that
has lots of weird resonances. EQ'ing _before_ helps the
"character" of the
reverb sound.

I would suggest EQ'ing before _and_ after!
*-OK perhaps this should read: "Many reverb algorithms have a tendency
to
emphasize low frequencies in naturalistic ways" But of course there is
a
difference between "naturalistic" and "musical."
