That's why I prefer Logic over Cubase or Performer. >Cubase/Performer look pretty and are colorful, but Logic is visually >"quieter" yet very, very powerful. I prefer that - could be a Buddhist >thing, hehehe ;-) Indeed - the best interfaces are the ones you never even notice. Hard to achieve on a computer, but as far as possible a good GUI should get the hell out of the way and not attract any unnecessary attention. As far as the muted sequences colour goes, my vote is for a half-transparent version of whatever the sequence color is, with the bullet (not an asterisk) appended to the name as well to ease the transition. In 256-colours this would be tricky, perhaps *no* colour with grey outlines? The green border in LAM 4.06 (or any highlighting) just attracts attention, which is not desirable in a sequence that *doesn't* play. A diagonal line will perhaps be a bit ugly & therefore distracting - a muted sequence should appear to be further in the background, much like a greyed-out menu item. I don't have a problem with simply greying-out muted sequences either, if thats easier to achieve - I just won't use that colour for anything. I think the bullet should stay, whatever the colouring. Perhaps Emagic could look at the way objects on the "background" layer in vector drawing programs such as Freehand appear, as an example? Why reinvent the wheel? Finally, to me, Cubase is visually too loud and uncoordinated; Performer is fairly sexy but too cutesy, and everything is too bloody small. My 2c worth, as a graphic designer... John Pitcairn
