Hey Bashar, >No, Emagic should replace this with "CPU architecture too old/OS too >buggy". No matter what emagic does or even add more features to LAW , it >will still be behind due to the nature of windowz and X86, a lot of poor >users here are hopping a lot from windows 2000, althon, p3 optimization, >32-bit code, the next version of direct-X, someone even predicted 80% >increase in performance with win2000, more stability..... I sure hope that >LABeOS will be the savior, but don't go arms and legs against e-magic and >expect miracles when the OS is so bug ridden to begin with.... Not even our dear friend "f-word" would have said this much! I'm sure you put a big smile on his face :-) I think what people are getting at is that other programs (not written by Emagic) are better optimized for PC users. What you have said about x86 architecture is kinda true but it's also true that Logic is still not making the best use of what is actually available, unlike with Mac OS. You *can* get pretty blinding performance, even on "buggy" Windows and "obsolete" x86. That's why my Mac-head colleagues in fact use dual-PII NT machines to render 3D animation in Lightwave. (Lightwave 3D supports 8-way SMP on NT4.) >Bashar; X-windows98/NT/2000/LAW Ultra-geek Yeah, but you gotta let these people discuss stuff without flaming them. You used to get mad on the list (before you switched to Mac :-) , so why can't they? I don't get mad publicly, but I am interested in what is being discussed. Anyway, peace and good music. Tash PS. I checked out Spark last weekend. It's cool but the user interface is a little too pretty, like many apps these days. I like SoundForge for its simplicity, functionality and power. I don't need software that has brushed-steel panels or faders with shadows and hundreds of real-time LED meters. That's why I prefer Logic over Cubase or Performer. Cubase/Performer look pretty and are colorful, but Logic is visually "quieter" yet very, very powerful. I prefer that - could be a Buddhist thing, hehehe ;-)
