Subject: [GEN] Logic Groups
Message #117527
I've been following the posts on this group for some time, and it seems that most of you who are posting to it use the latest version(s) of Logic and also use Logic for recording both MIDI and audio. I'd think there must be a lot of Logic users out there, especially those with smaller project / hobby studios, who aren't using the latest 5.x version, and also some who are using it just for MIDI? I know the latter doesn't use Logic to its full potential, but there must be people who, like me, prefer to work by syncing Logic's excellent MIDI facilities to an external audio recorder? In order to avoid both the latest version / audio recordists and the older version / MIDI-only users having to plough through a load of postings that aren't hugely relevant, is there a Yahoo group that specifically serves MIDI-only / older version / more basic Logic users? If not, is there any demand for setting one up? Just a thought. Cheers, S

The good thing about a group such as the LUG is that you have a vast amount of people with varying experience to draw on - and you know that people are interested in what's going on with Logic. The downside, as you mention, is the high traffic. This group has more than doubled in size over recent years. I could be wrong but it seems to me like a chicken / egg thing with regards to a list. Why join a list that has no traffic? i.e., would people join or wait until there was a substantial group (hence chicken and egg). At least with this group being established you can ask your question and use your e-mail filter capabilities if you're only interested in relative replies... with regards, -- Lachlan Deck ldeck@...

You can always start a group by clicking on the START A GROUP link on the upper right corner of the message posting page. Do a poll first to see how many people are interested. Good luck! J.

I can see your point of view. When I joined this group one and a half year ago, I was using Rolands VS-1680 for audio and a very "light" Logic version called Logic VS for midi and sync only. Most of the stuff that was posted here I find very "heavy" for me to understand. But after some time running through the mails I thought was relvant for me, I became more and more curious to what Logic could do as a complete DAW system. Then I start reading all the mails in a period, and I desided to buy LAPW. And I can tell you, that I have learn more from reading LUG post, than reading manuals. Today I use all the fantastic possibiltys Logic have for both audio & midi, and my VS do the job as aoutboard mixer & automation control. Logic Light user group might be a good ide, but I recomand you to keep on reading LUG too, you will learn alot about music production in general. Remember you can filter out mails too. Good Luck Thor Mamen
