Once again, NOT intending to spark any sort of renewed debate, but just offering information for those who might not already have it: The top news item on the Emagic site today is a new "Switching with Emagic" brief -- http://www.emagic.de/english/news/index.html that connects to another page -- http://www.emagic.de/switchandsave/english/index.html that offers ways to save up to $1300 if you want to purchase a new Mac, plus a display, and end up with a free Emagic Mac license, Mac manual, and new EXS/softsynth to boot. Basically, if you are a LAWP 5 user and you can get Academic US Pricing, this means that for about $1350 you can get the PowerMac dual G4/867, Logic Mac, Logic Mac Manual, and the EXS24 (or any less expensive synth you don't already own and want). My example price assumes you don't buy a new monitor, and you use your regular PC monitor, or use both of your PC monitors with a cheap (>$50) ADC-->SVGA converter. There are deals on Apple Montors listed to, if interested. Once again, please don't debate Mac vs. PC value/pricing on the LUG again (it's been done to death). Zero tolerance for platform wars. But if you didn't know, there it is. Orren co-moderator and all-around trying-to-be-helpful sort o' guy.

Just wanted to say Sorry Emagic, you will be losing another very long term user, (since atari days) The deal, while the bottom figure looks good, assumes, you want another monitor, another emagic synth (that you can't use anywhere else) etc.. In my case I have recently bought a new Dell notebook that I am extremely happy with, and this offer is basically a bit of a joke if you are expecting me to jump at it. It is by far cheaper to cross to SX and get rid of EXS24 to kontakt. Who knows, I think I will probably will be better off in the long run as kontakt is VSTi compatible. regards LjGarrett

I would think it best to wait until next year for the G5 which may well deliver some serious power. If you HAVE to buy a Mac now then sure use the deal - if not check out SX, it blows Logic away in the audio dept. and its only at version 1. In the meantime, keep the windows updates comin.. ;-)))) best regards, Adam P
