Subject: [GEN] micrologic and VSTi???????
Message #117451
On the box for Micrologic, (and on the emagic site) it says it supports VSTi. I can't find how that works in the program and the manual says *nothing* about VST instruments.. Anyone have any ideas? How do you do it in big Logic? |_e_/~ Dennis Barton <db@...> ) skylab2000 ~/ Brainforest Productions, Los Angeles / http://skylab2000.com

If it is true it is simple: Open the Audio environement and select a TRACK.... look in the PArameter window if it is an INSTRUMENTS TRACK and note a simple TRACK... press on the TRACK in this Parameter Window to see the menu... select INSTRUMENT 1 and now it can be possible to open a VSTi by pressing on the Rectangle directly on the top of the Fader... you must have some VSTi in the VSTPlugIn Folder off course :) igor

Maybe Micrologic is very different, as I cant find anything that says it's an audio environment. Remember I am brand new to Logic. I have no idea what the parameter window is, as I can't find Audio environment to select a track. >select INSTRUMENT 1 and now it can be possible to open a VSTi by pressing on >the Rectangle directly on the top of the Fader... >you must have some VSTi in the VSTPlugIn Folder off course :) >igor I have VSTi in a cubasedirectory as I also use Cubase. As best I can tell, Logic doesn't seem to allow me to set the directory, so I threw a few copies of DLLs there. |_e_/~ Dennis Barton <db@...> ) skylab2000 ~/ Brainforest Productions, Los Angeles / http://skylab2000.com

> Maybe Micrologic is very different, as I cant find anything that says it's > an audio environment. MicroLogic IS very different. The copy that came with my AudioWerk is 3.something, so is probably even very different from your 4.x version. But in MY copy of ML, there is no environment. To change the function of an audio object, you click and hold on the CHA menu in the parameter box in the arrange window. You should then get a selection of tracks, inputs and instruments. My version doesn't have vstis, so only tracks and inputs come up. If yours supports vstis, then you will see instrument options in that window. > > Remember I am brand new to Logic. > > I have no idea what the parameter window is, as I can't find Audio > environment to select a track. The way that Logic Audio works is that you have to have a vstplugins folder in the Logic Audio folder. You can't just change a directory to point to the vsts in your cubase folder. You have to have separate copies of those plugins placed in the correct place in your ML folder. Gregory

How do you do it in big Logic? Hi! Dennis: VSTi works in logic plat-4.8.1 on mac. Try this perhaps this might work: First make sure that your VSTi program folder has been installed into the logic's VST Plug-ins folder. If Micrologic is some where else on the computer Drag/Drop or copy it into the logic's VST Plug-ins folder. One way to be sure is to do a file open in the arrange window and scroll the logic files and look for the VAST Plug- ins folder and open to see if the micrologic folder is there. Once it's there open logic to the arrange window and click on a audio instrument track. NOT the regular audio track. When you click on the audio instrument track a audio mixer window should appear and you should see the audio instrument icon highlighted under the track. On the top of that track click on the top insert button and a small drop down window should appear with a choice of MONO and Stero outputs with a another small triangle shape arrow to the left of it and if you click on it another small drop down menue should appear and you should see your VSTi selection there. That's how it works in logic 4.8.1/mac OS9.2. Hopefully this will help if you haven't found the solution as yet. If this works let me know so I can be aware that it works the same way in the logic version you are working with. Good Luck, Jerry.

You do *not* want to copy the (micro)Logic application into the VstPlugIns folder, which is what you seem to suggest. >open logic to the arrange window and click on a audio >instrument track. In LA4.8, the top insert slot of an Audio-Instrument channelstrip simply pops up a menu with your installed VSTi's. -- Hendrik Jan Veenstra <h@...> Omega Art: http://www.ision.nl/users/h/index.html

To Hendrik Jan Veenstra: You were cleverly correct in the following of the spelling of VstPlugIns without the quotes, *double*-Click and *not* to copy the micrologic application to the logic application VstPlugIns folder. However, you were "WRONG" with quotes. Regarding the "?In LA4.8, the top insert slot of an Audio-Instrument channelstrip simply pops up a menu with your installed VSTi's" Actully it simply "DoSe NoT". Here's what's actually happening!!!: When you *double*-click on a audioInst in the arrange window. An audio environment console channel strip window appears. At the bottom of this window you will notice that the audioInst track number that you *double*-clicked on is now selected and highlighted under the corresponding audioInst track/channelstrip number. "the top insert slot of an Audio- Instrument channelstrip simply DOES NOT pop up a menu with your installed VSTi's." You must first manually *single*-click on the top insert button where a small sub-menu appear with three choices. (1)- No Effect (default position), (2)-Mono and (3)-Stereo. Secondly you must hold and drag the mouse to the Mono or Stereo choice where you will see a small black triangle at the right side location of each choice. By choosing the Mono selection another small sub-menu with a choice of emagic's EXS24 or ES1 VST instruments (providing you have them installed on your computer). By choosing the Stereo selection a small sub-menu here also offers two choices. One for LOGIC and the other for VST. Both of these also have a small black triangle to the right of them. Choosing the Logic triangle will allow you to again select Logic's EXS24 and EVP88 VST instruments. (of course if you have them installed on your computer?) However, by choosing the VST selection triangle. This is where you would be able to locate any of your compatible third (3rd) party VSTi instruments such as Micro logic in this location. Perhaps this may clearify the matter. Thanks for your input, Jerry. Oh! by the way I fogot to mentioned that there is a space between VstPlugs Ins. (:>

However, I assumed that everyone who's had more than 5 hours of computer-exposure would know how to navigate menus and submenus. The spelling of VstPlugIns and the location of the application seemed to me to be less obvious and prone to user-error.
