Just guessing. I do not have Logic 5 yet.
Go to applications(root)>Utilities> AudioMidi setup and try to
configure it before launching Logic

I thought OS 10 was supposed to use both CPU's on a dual, slitting the dsp
requirements between them. I can still only get 11 PV's on my G4 500 DP.. It
seems Logic works the old OS 9 way, dividing the chips between
midi/graphics, live IP, and DSP FX and Virtual instruments...
What's up with that?

I tried it as well. I have the Unitor8. and I I use Asio with MOTU 2408, but
I
can't find any audio drivers for osx. It seems as if i'm gonna have to use
os9

I think now they'll release the drivers soon!
Good luck

That applies to OS X 10.2 but not 10.1.5...

No, as Logic does not have direct AMT8/Unitor8 support in Mac OS X
any more. Logic accesses all MIDI interfaces via CoreMIDI. So it is
not required any more to display a recognized AMT8.

Audio MIDI Setup is part of Mac OS X 10.2 (Jaguar), not 10.1.5. And
it is not required to make Logic work with MIDI. It's just a tool to
customize your MIDI ports.

Please contact MotU. They have to provide a Mac OS X 2408 driver.
Currently, they have only an 828 beta driver available.

How then is the special AMT technique of sending midi data
ahead of time realized?

I've been scratching my head over this same issue for a while now. It
doesn't seem to make any sense. Where is the advantage?

Beats me, unless CoreMidi supports these special kind of
devices. If not, however, I guess AMT no longer exist.

My understanding is that Coremidi itself supports midi timestamping.
So as long as the coremidi drivers for the AMT/Unitor interfaces
expose that capability, it should work. Theoretically, we should be
able to get the same functionality from steinberg and and any other
timestamped midi interfaces. I would imagine it's up to the drivers
though.
