Subject: [LAW]:U8control can't find AMT8
Message #117257
Opening up Logic 5.2 always results in the same outcome: In the scanning window the AMT8's output is: "All from Creatve S/W synth" which i DEFINITELY don't expect or want. I've tried to uninstall it several times yet it always keeps popping up in the U8control scanning window. If i try to look it up where it is via windows search function it's nowhere, not even in the trash can. Yet it keeps showing up as "output" making it impossible to find my AMT8(via com port) My synths get into logic via AMT8 though. I can play and record my synths into Logic, but i can't hear the recorded sequences play back. I can play and record audio via AMT8 without any problems. In system settings i selected the following: Inputs Port Title 8 1 Unitor in O1 Outputs 8 1 Unitor out 01 Serial port Com 1 I use U8control 3.05, windows me and to tell you honestly my AMT8 setup, which still doesn' moths t work as it should, and this after 3(three!) months feels like a trip in hell. The thing is making me SICK. PS: when i play my synths i do get a n in/out activity in the transport bar, but if i wanna play back a recorded sequence i get no note ins. So how is all of this normal activity possible when at the same time i can't get U8 control to find my AMT8? How come the output isn't Unitor out1, as set in the system settings, but "creative s/w synth", which seems impossible to get rid off? I need help, desperately.

You probably mean Unitor8 Control, not Logic. The message says "All from ..." which means that it checks multiple outputs at once. For some reason the "Creative S/W synth" is the first MIDI output in your system, therefore U8C shows this output's name. U8C can't simply use the "Unitor out 01" port instead of scanning all available outputs, as it is allowed to rename MIDI ports, therefore U8C wouldn't find it in this case. >I've tried to uninstall it several times yet >it always keeps popping up in the U8control scanning window. >If i try to look it up where it is via windows search function >it's nowhere, not even in the trash can. Are you sure you have set up the track instrument's MIDI output correctly? >I can play and record audio via AMT8 without any problems. Umm, the AMT8 is a MIDI interface. It does not allow playing and recording *audio*. >In system settings i selected the following: >Inputs Port Title >8 1 Unitor in O1 > >Outputs >8 1 Unitor out 01 > >Serial port Com 1 > >I use U8control 3.05, windows me and to tell you honestly >my AMT8 setup, which still doesn' moths t work as it should, and this >after 3(three!) months feels like a trip in hell. >The thing is making me SICK. >PS: when i play my synths i do get a n in/out activity >in the transport bar, but if i wanna play back a recorded >sequence i get no note ins. >So how is all of this normal activity possible when at >the same time i can't get U8 control to find my AMT8? >How come the output isn't Unitor out1, as set in the system >settings, but "creative s/w synth", which seems impossible >to get rid off? >I need help, desperately. First check if for U8C or Logic some MIDI channels are disabled which you aren't aware of. Click Start > Run program..., then enter "Sysedit". You will be shown several setup files, among them "Win.ini". In this file, seek for sections [Logic] and [Unitor8 Control]. In these sections, there should be several lines beginning with "MidiIn_" or "MidiOut_". Check if they all end with "=1" or "=7". If they end with "=0" or "", change the ending to "=1". You can get rid of "Creative S/W synth" by changing the end of line "MidiOut_Creative_S/W_synth" to "=0". -- Beste Gruesse - best regards, Michael Haydn - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Dipl.-Inform.
