I do not believe it is possible to split the ADAT ports on the RME Hammerfall to get 192khz. I belive that they can bit-split via SMUX to get 96khz, but that is as far as it goes. At 04:04 PM 8/30/2002 -0700, you wrote: >On 8/30/02 2:56 PM, "CDJ Tracks" <cdjtracks1@...> wrote: > >> (1) Now with that being said my first question is using the ADAT ports on >> the sound card at 192 sample rate, would it split the ADAT ports from 1-8 >> inputs per adat port it would be 1-4 inputs per port??? > Actually, and I may very well be wrong, but I thought lightpipe held 8 channels of 48k (24bit), which means you would get only 2 Channels of 192k audio, not 4. Thus needing 32 Lightpipe ports (How many are on each card?). Or have they implemented 8 ch of 96 on Lightpipe? What are you recording that needs 192K? And to do 64 tracks of it, phew. Good luck with the Hard drives. That.s over 3.8 Gigs per minute (assuming you are runnign 64 tracks, which may not be your case, but if you need 64 i/0 I assume it is). So a 4 minute song would fill a 20 gig drive. Though I doubt you could get any one drive to record/playback that much data. You may need 4 drives at once (not positive). Then of course there is the computer DSP to run a mixer of that size, though thats probably a non-problem compared to the other dilemas. And all that for a difference you 'might possibly' hear a difference on. Hey, if you can get it working, I think that's great. I am just skeptical. I may also bewrong about some of the things I have said above too, but they are just things to keep in mind. Colin Miller PS - Sorry if I am misunderstanding the situation! :-)
