Hi. I'm new to both Logic and to hard disk recording in general. I'm
curious what sort of performance I should be able to squeeze out of my
system in terms of stable audio tracks (simultaneous playback and
recording).
I have a 7300/180 with 180M of RAM, and 2 4G SCSI drives dedicated to
recording (my OS and Logic are on a separate 2G SCSI drive). I'm running
MacOS 8 and Logic Audio Gold 4.05. I'm using a MOTU 2408 as my audio
interface via ASIO.
Being new to this I'm also curious what steps I should take to optimize my
system. I know from poking around that I should low level format my 4G
drives and install asynchronous drivers, but I'm not sure if I have the
software to do this (can the drivers be installed with Apple's "Drive
Setup"?).
Beyond that I'm looking for any tips on what I can do to optimize the
performance of my setup. I'd prefer not to wipe out the 2G drive; my data
and applications have lived on it for a long time.
Thanks for any pointers.
dean.
