The problem with the asterisk is that it looks too much like regular text -- the big black dot is distinctly different from text, and jumps out more. Of course, it's still not enough. The added greed "glow" around muted objects is definitely better, but objects that are assigned that same green of course look no different. An additional diagonal line just might be the ticket? What about several big black dots after the text (as well as the single dot before)? The one thing that I'm afraid of is that muted sequences call TOO MUCH ATTENTION to themselves. Or maybe I'm just not used to the green glow yet? Currently, My eyes instantly gravitate to the green glow (good or bad thing?
