Hi all, I just got a Universal Audio UAD 1 in hope for everything to work fine on the first (or second, maybe third) try... Hey, one could ask... Anyway, my setup is a G4/400 AGP, OS 9.2.2, 768 RAM, Adaptec 2940 U2W SCSI card, Digi 001, Direct IO 5.1.1, DigiSystem 5.1.1, LAP 4.81. Everything works great as is, but I just installed the UAD 1, downloaded the 2.2.6 software (the latest and greatest), and whenecer I open a powered plugin I get -6042 errors just seconds after the playback starts. Logic is still running, but I get no sound. I got a -6031 error a couple of times. The Digidesign site says -6042 is a bus too slow error. Could it really be??? I didn't have much information travelling. Universal Audio says the card requires a G3 or better, and a G4 bus would be too slow? Anyone got this thing running? One is try to avoid using the digi midi port, and there is a definite pci hogging issue with 001 and other pci cards that depends a bit on the specific card you are using and your system setup. You've got 3 heavy duty things on the same PCI bus: UAD card, Digi001 and SCSI card. As soon as he goes into record onto the SCSI drive on even one track - -6042 city. Recording on either IDE or FireWire drives is fine. I spoke with Digi, and they scorned the 2940 with G4s - they really are that bad apparently... It must be said that having a faster computer does not necessarily help the PCI bus - its almost as though the processor is a load on the bus itself, and having a faster processor places more demands on the bus! I suggest you ditch it and go either Atto, IDE or FireWire. Good luck. -- The best of times to you all... Pants
