Greetings, I've learned that the most important factors going into the building of a PC for DAW is the motherboard and the quality of RAM a close 2nd. These things shouldn't be skimped on. Couldn't recall if your graphics card was AGP, but that would be a plus versus a pci card. You'll get good results with your HDs, but scsi still has a performance edge. If you can afford it, I'd recommend a 19" monitor.....after all, it's what you'll be staring at for hours on end. I went over budget getting a 19" when I recently built my system, and haven't regretted it one minute! It makes a great difference. Going scsi and getting a larger monitor could jack you for another ~$400 or so. Personally, I'd go for the monitor. It's easier to upgrade to scsi, and you might find eide quite adequate. I would double check your MoBo and RAM, maybe with rec.pro.audio and PC-DAW groups just to get some added feedback. Also there are quite a few helping hands over on the Calkwalk user group to check out your system. There is nothing like a clean system. Once built, refrain from installing games and other resource-hogging apps. Sounds like a good system. Have fun. Just mho. Larry > >
