> Also, what makes you believe Apple iLogic will support your > interfaces? Well, Logic for OS X will definitely support CoreAudio and CoreMidi. And that's one of the great things about OS X: that's all you need to support. There will be no more ASIO or DirectConnect or OMS or EASI or FreeMidi or any of that. CoreAudio and CoreMidi provide everything that those APIs and more, and do it better, and remove the need to ever access hardware directly and in hardware-specific ways. So as long as your hardware manufacturer provides CoreAudio or CoreMidi drivers, you are all set. Marc -- [ Destroy FX - http://www.smartelectronix.com/~destroyfx/ ]

Anyone know if there'd be any basis for a lawsuit against Emagic? Jason

Although the lawsuit might be against Apple, not Emagic. Discontinuing support for a product that hasn't yet produced features originally promised for its release seems quite criminal. Not to mention the fact that users who purchased Logic 5 were basically under the assumption that they'd get a couple of years of free updates and support. I think if Emagic doesn't provide full refunds for anyone who purchased any of their Windows products in the last year, there's going to be a lot going on in the courts.

If they get thousands of email from angry LAW users maybe they will rethink their position. At least you will achieve a hell of lot more than bashing Emagic and Apple here. As a Mac user you have my sympathy. I have 2 friends both using LAWP and I feel sad for them. I would also wait now to see what actually happens... your Logic software is not going to stop working on 30.9.2002 even if the Windows support was discontinued. Correct, but I'm pretty sure 5.2 will be released for windows, and with that, all promised features will be in place > Not to mention the fact that users who purchased Logic 5 were > basically under the assumption that they'd get a couple of years of > free updates and support. That, on the other hand, is just an assumption, and there is no basis for a lawsuit there... Malcolm ----------------- Malcolm Payne Music NYC http://www.malcolmpayne.com

Viable or not if Apple does not rectify nor attempt to refund my recent purchases and the damages done to me and many others yes yes yes even if I - we - us will probally lose imediately I plan to pursue legal action of some sort. In the end I believe in compassion and creativity not money and takeovers. IMO even if we lost apple will without doubt suffer and I will not let some one or some company just walk over me like that not to mention jerk a production tool out of the hands of 70,000 some odd users and wether anyone see's or believes is trying to force me to switch my computer platform and investments. I consider this a hostile act to my person and a body of many many others. We aren't talking the aple newton here. I think with some consideration you and many others will get a more focused and acurate view of the ugly face that is emerging from apple. Its not a matter of winning or losing the PC or the MAC its a matter of wright and wrong and sometimes companies forget the power of the people who made and support them. I use Macs and PCs and no I can't just swap them out to replace their curent uses. actually I find the need and uncertain behaviour of Apple to sway me from furthering them with my money or trust. Not to mention my PC outperforms anything Apple has under a dual 1Ghz. I am trying to run a business not play platform wars with Bill Gates and Steve Jobs or even other Logic users for that matter. These type of actions have done more than anger me they are propelling me to follow what is right and if losing a court bout and more of my time over this can't do anything but make my conscious feel as if I stood up. I can get up after being knocked down and I will and so will others. will Apple? Robert Page

Hey Dude take a chill pill. Jeez. I've been lurking on this group for the last 2 years or so (Studio Vision orphan) and I've never seen so many outrageous, stupid and idiotic posts as I've seen today!!!! LAWP is going to work well for the next few years or so. (My studio vision still works) You can still make music. Life went on after Opcode went away and I just found another product that worked and I came to even love it. Apple has just stopped SELLING Windows versions they are going to support the base that is already out there. Hey I understand your disappointment, but you can't get mad at either Apple or Emagic for making business moves that they think is beneficial to the well being of their companies. Please, please stop this idiotic and immature talk of Lawsuits and other bullcrap until we find out more about what the details of this new acquisition is going to be. My two cents. That might be your option to do....as everything about future at this moment is so unclear I couldn't say... I'm not a lawyer so I don't know what real ground you'd actually have for legal action because of this.... >In the end I believe in compassion >and creativity not money and takeovers. Hmm...you believe in compassion but you are about to sue a company ? > IMO even if we lost apple >will without doubt suffer and I will not let some one or some >company just walk over me like that not to mention jerk a production >tool out of the hands of 70,000 some odd users and wether anyone >see's or believes is trying to force me to switch my computer >platform and investments. I do feel bad about Apple's decision just dumping PC users but maybe now you know how us Mac users have felt many many times with products that have dropped off Mac support ... it is something you wish no one had to endure...:-( > I consider this a hostile act to my person >and a body of many many others. A hostile act you on your person ?? huh..... > We aren't talking the aple newton >here. No we are not....btw. what do you mean with that ?? >I think with some consideration you and many others will get a >more focused and acurate view of the ugly face that is emerging from >apple. {note from admin: if you guys intend to sue anyone, then use another list to organise it and don't do it here. Thanks] > >yes even if I - we - us will probally lose imediately I plan to > >pursue legal action of some sort. > That would be a good idea. I suppose the best place to sue them would be in the US. Is there a US lawyer on this list ?? Marc.
