Bizzarre. I'd not been reading the LUG mail for several months, maybe a
year,
though I've been subbed to it since maybe 1995 or something. For some reason
I
just checked my LUG folder today to clear out some debris and this hits me
in
the face. Ouch!
Remember all that talk about Logic for BeOS? I know they ported the code for
BeOS but held back on the release, and we can all see how it makes sense now
since Be are no longer. At the time, I posted a suggestion that they make
LogicBe open source and hand over the code to the public domain so that it
can
take on a new life of its own. Emagic were not receptive to that suggestion.
Shame really because no doubt we'd otherwise have seen it on Linux. But
we're
talking about Windows here, not BeOS. How much time, money and energy have
Emagic pumped into getting Logic for Windows to where it is now? IMO, it
would
be bordering on insaninty to flush all that they've achieved down the toilet
like this.
So to risk sounding repetitive: Emagic (Apple), if you don't want the code
anymore because you can't support it or for whatever reason, why not hand it
over to the people who want to make something more of it and who have
invested
pretty heavily in it? And you can corner the open source music software
sector
at the same time :-)

This will never happen....Apple wants to make money, not friends.
