Oh, there's one other issue that no one has mentioned yet: this might mean that Emagic drops OS 9 support, promptly. Apple does not support OS 9 anymore. Emagic now is Apple. So anyway, I'm just speculating, but this could be true. It's find with me, I can't wait to be using OS X only, but I don't know about everyone else... What about third party interfaces? They may not go OSX for ages. Or your favorite plug-in? I have a feeling even most mac users will be stuck at 5.1.3 too. Regards Stephen Bennett. Hmmn - seems like digidesign and MOTU will be a bit nervous after this. It seems a bit surprising that they wouldn't buy MOTU, which is a mac-only product. I guess the only explanation is that they're looking to simultaneously expand their platform offering while crippling what's available for Windows users. Like the high-end video stuff they've been buying (Shake, etc) Pretty smart, if you ask me. And I have to say I couldn't be any happier about it, being a diehard Mac user (I have a windows computer as well, since I do crossplatform development). I am sorry for those who are on the Windows platform, but I have to say that's life. As a Mac user, I have been inconvenienced (aka shafted) many times by the fact that some software isn't available on Mac, or is discontinued. It's part of the reason I bought a PC. Maybe you guys should just suck it up and give the Mac a shot. But wait and see - I'm sure either Apple will do something to help out Windows users, or Steinberg or someone else will fill the gap. Business, gaming and other segments have traditionally been owned by the PC, and if that's what you do, you buy a PC. Looks like Apple's finally serious about truly owning the creative markets.... MT PS: yay!
