Hi! Just read this on www.Macnews.de , don't know whether it's a rumour, nothing bout that on emagics site... sounds ok, even though one thing bewildered me: it said that PC systems wouldn't be supported any longer from september 2002 on!?I can't believe that emagic can afford to lose the PC -Logicians! I'm using a mac, but would still miss the PC - users, cause I think support and development can only be better if there are as many users around, no matter what platform, as possible... Regards, Frank Valet

Hail Logicians. Forgive me, just got off a very long plane flight, but.... HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA! (Very hysterical laughing). This is the funniest news I've heard all year! Really sorry for all you Windows users though. Best wishes to all, even if a lot of you will be leaving us soon :( S

Logic was written and ported for 2 platforms(mac&pc) both of which are now becoming very stable systems i find it totally rediculous that a company like apple would stop windows based support and am outraged that in the selling terms emagic allowed them to do this. i feel totally let down by this company and have spent the last 5 yrs supporting and selling The Emagic product base to various clients all using PC systems and now i have not one answer to any of them ... this is a total farce and both companys should wake up very quickly and realise the revenue they will loose.

Amen, I couldn't agree more. The Emagic USA rep was in Dallas just last week training Guitar Center employees on the features of the 5.2 release. He had a copy of 5.2 on a PC!!! I know Emagic USA is seperate from the German main company but this is absurd. You have reps training people on a platform that is about to be discontinued. And from these events only 2 conclusions can be made: 1) Emagic told Emagic USA nothing of its inpending sale to Apple which would be absolutely absurd because Emagic USA is located near Apple's HQ and I gaurantee Emagic USA sells the MOST out of any country that distributes Emagic products. Thus Emagic USA continued on as normal oblivious as to what was about to happen. 2) Emagic USA knew of the impending sale and lied to its retailers and customers anyways. It wasted resources in trying to sell products it was about to discontinue(either that or unethically tried to sell the products to get rid of its backstock before customers were aware of future plans). I would ask that both Emagic and Emagic USA reps put out public statements regarding this issue. I also think at a minimum apple should offer FREE crossgrading for recent purchasers of Logic 5 for Windows to Mac Copies(Licenses) as well as a fairly generous rebate offer for the purchase of a Mac computer. I have seen Apple do some shady things, but even though as a PC Logic 5 user and HUGE emagic supporter this touches close to home ... it tops the cake as far as Apple rotten business deals. -bobby kurtz-

(Very hysterical laughing). > This is the funniest news I've heard all year! > Really sorry for all you Windows users though. > Best wishes to all, even if a lot of you will be leaving us soon I am stunned - this sucks - I have a story to tell, then I saw this post whilst looking through, I recently switched from mac to pc for several reasons, cheaper hardware, not having to spend 300 quid on an 18 month out of date built in 8x cd-writer which I can't leave off the machine, not being able to buy half the software that I'd like such as acid/soundforge - great apps if you'd get off you high horses and try them, and most of all - I started working in web design where a colleague of mine is a logic/pc user, I used to think like the guy above - till I saw my colleague's hand built pc running windows XP wiping the floor with my MOTU equipped mac on plugins and system performance, I decided that I did'nt want to spend 5k to buy in mac what I could get for 2k on a pc, and I was THE diehard macist, till I realised that actually I am a musician and the only thing that concerns me is the creation of music, I don't give a rats what badge the computer wears - music is about self expression, if the guy who wrote that above only has sneering contempt to sell, then I don't expect he'll be selling many albums, regardless of what machine he's using. Responses like that remind me that 2 months ago I would have made the same arrogant, laughable reply, and I'm glad that I chose not to be that type of individual - more importantly - and another reason I moved - I have had endless trouble with macs, incompatibilities, crashing, and I run a clean system believe me, my last mac was dead on arrival and I had to deal with the awfull mac technical support to sort it, let's hope that emagic's up to now good technical support dosen't suffer from being annexed by apple too, let's hope mac supports all current industry standards like VST and ASIO, rather than taking you all down the very expensive apple proprietary route, the point is that you no longer have a choice - with apple/emagic combined, apple can dictate to you what the future of the music business is, they've ditched floppies, they've ditch crt monitors, what might they ditch from pro-audio to suit themselves, my point is that a monopoly is never a good thing in my opinion, and at the end of the day all these companies are only intersted in one thing - profit, and we provide it, this will probably result in a shedload more fragmented standards for the audio industry - even as a die hard mac user I would not have liked this development! not to mention logic control, which fortunately I had not got around to buying - I may yet switch back to mac but not for the mac - only for Logic, but not until I see what apple do with it, and during my last conversation with emagic technical they told me they were having problems getting it to work on OSX cos of all the background services - remind you of any other operating system? At the end of the day - pc or mac user - we have to wait and see what becomes of logic before laughing about it, if apple naff it up - and let's face it they're good at that too - it may be all of our loss and the gentleman quoted above may be not have so much to laugh about!
