Hi Colin,
both methods will generate tempo changes at the event boudaries. For the
guide track, this can be per bar. I don't know if it automatically removes
redundant tempo changes that were identical to the previous tempo setting as
even variation at the second decimal place show up when I do it. For the
region slicing method, this will be at the start of each region. The tempo
list will have all these in it.
You can manually play with the tempo settings using the list of the
graphical tempo editors (like hyperdraw but for tempo) but it is really hard
to line things up again.
