I have my system set to 3 ms, and I CANNOT make my system choke (my system details listed below). However, the issue that needs to be resolved (and Matthias at RME says they're looking into it) is that using the MIDI input on the Digface/Multiface causes glitchy audio behavior - lots of pops, crackles & droputs that sound as if your buffer is set too low. It apparently has to do with Apple's Cardbus implementation/bandwidth in the rev 2 Powerbooks (550 and 667 models). The system works fine with the original TiBooks (400 and 500), and we've all got our fingers crossed that Apple fixed this problem in the latest models (667 and 800). Again, in terms of audio performance, the HDSP system is simply unbeatable, and incredibly flexible. If they can fix the Cardbus/MIDI issue, it will truly be a one-box solution for audio and MIDI I/O. Subject: [LUG] [LC] MIDI broadcasting
Message #108032

I hope that someone will able to help here. Logic Control is sending to all MIDI outs when I use it.That is move a fader or the jog wheel. So far it has not hurt my system by doing this But I believe that this effects my synths and can give them spurious commands. So if there is a way to have LC send to only 1 port that is to Logic only and not broadcast to all ports, I will be very happy. This occurs on all of the MIDI interfaces I have used. I just got an AMT8. and I can not stop this behavior on it either. I have my environment setup so that only certain ports have input to the sequencer object. I do not have it on sum out. Only 3 inputs are active and these are not from the LC. I hope that this is clear. Thanks Best John

Logic normally filters out all messages coming from control surfaces. They shouldn't arrive at the Physical Input object at all. For some reason it does not work in your song. -- Beste Gruesse - best regards, Michael Haydn EMAGIC Soft- und Hardware GmbH SoundDiver Group Executive Logic Developer (Logic Control integration) Unitor8 Control Project Manager

Your comment about the internal filters of Logic makes me hope that there is a way to turn them back on ? Or, will I need to reinstall? Maybe a registry tweak? Is it possible for the signal form the LC to broadcast to the ports before it gets to Logic? BTW this is a PC running XP. A suggestion would be useful and most appreciated Thanks Best John

Are you sure it's not SPP thats going out all the ports? When you move the Jog wheel the Song Position changes so logic would send that info to all the ports. You can turn that off if you go to the Synchronization page. Hope That's Useful, Neil Parfitt

Just for the record, the preview of Quicktime 6 is up on the Apple site. http://www.apple.com/quicktime/preview/quicktime6/ There's also info on Advanced Audio Coding (AAC) here: http://www.apple.com/mpeg4/aac/ This format supports multi-channel audio, so Logic-users (whew, just got on-topic) might be interested if they're into surround mixing. Move over mp3...... Regards - Colin
