LOGIC 5.1. PC. WIN 2K.
Hi all,
What is the stop command to put into a midi file only, so that the
midi (.mid) song will stop in any midi player? Also is there any
systex or cc command I need to put in a midi (.mid) song for tempo
changes to be reconised by any midi player?
Thanks in advance,
Allan.

Obvious question: how did you envision "putting commands in a
midifile" ??? Do you have some low-level midifile-editing tool?
Can't imagine...
The most straightforward (and for 99.9% of the people the ONLY) way
to create a midifile, is by using e.g. the 'Export as Midifile'
function. In that case however, you don't need to bother with this
stuff: tempo changes you created in Logic will automaticaly be part
of the midifile, and as soon as the midifile ends, your
midifile-player should stop.
If you really need the low-level answer: on my website (see
signature) you'll find the complete midi specs and midi filespecs.
Tough reading if you're not at least 10% nerd or whizzkid. Fun
reading if your nerd-status exceeds 50% :-).
If I misunderstood your question, please give it another shot :).

Hi Hendrik,
What actually happened was that I did a midi file with varying tempos
and saved using "Export to midi file" as usual, but I found when
playing thu, say winamp or any other player the tempo stayed the
same, I never had this problem before, but I found the answer in the
manual (should have read it a bit more!) "Allow Tempo Change
Recording checkbox" Also now using the Tempo fader, works like a
charm! shame you cannot see the recorded tempo changes in the arrange
page. I do quite a bit of midi recording, but just could not
understand for a while what was happening. More sleep needed!
Many thanks,
Allan

Aha...

Yeah... we should restart the "I want an Arrange page tempo-track"
thread again. One of my favourite gripes with Logic :).
Anyhow, glad you got the problem sorted out...
