Subject: [LAW] Adat inputs?
Message #107900
Greetings group, I'd like some advice on what soundcard to get for a planned new PC running LAP, one that would have 16 ADAT inputs (or at least have an expansion card with that option). Also, a question about how ADAT inputs can be integrated into Logic. Currently, I'm on LAPW 4.8 using a second computer that sends 8 Gigasampler ADAT tracks to my Logic-sequencing computer's Yamaha DSP Factory. Alongside the Yamaha, which I'm running with Logic's built-in DS2416 support (ie, no external mixer like C-Console), I'm using an Audiowerk for audio tracks and digital instruments. The DS2416 tracks via ADAT can be played back and monitored, and effects can be added by the card itself, but the tracks cannot be introduced into the Logic mixer until after they're printed to the hard disk. Also when I do record them to disk, they're not in synch with the Audiowerk's audio tracks, which is a pain. I'd like to replace both cards with a better all-round card. What I'd like to know is this: Are there soundcards which can accept ADAT track inputs which are then integrated directly into the Logic mixer, even before being printed to disk? If so, are there latency issues? If they can't go directly into the mixer, is there at least a card that can record that volume of adat tracks at once without losing any synch with other audio tracks? Thanks and regards, Arch
