I have recently upgraded to Logic 5 Mac and now have midi error
problems. I had a super stable system with 4.8.1 and have not changed
a thing in my setup otherwise. I am working on a track I started in
4.8.1 and have opened in 5, so NOTHING new has happenned except the
software and driver upgrades.
Two midi problems happen now:1. I get a message saying "midi
error"
and lose midi input from my master controller but Logic still sends
midi to its Audio instruments and to my external synths (but wont
receive midi from the controller).
2. I get no midi error message and just notice that Logic stops
receiving midi.
My controller is OK because I can see on the MT4 that it is sending
midi, but the midi doesnt get to logic from the MT4.
If I disconnect the MT4 from USB and reconnect it I am back on line
again.
Seems to me to be something like a driver error or similar? I have
the latest Unitor driver installed. I am running unified virtual and
classic midi engines.
Can anyone give me any suggestions? Would upgrading to OS 9.2 make
any difference to the USB drivers?
Mac G4
OS 9.1
LAMP 5
MT4
324 megs RAM

According to Emagic and as of 4/29/2002, Dual processing
is currenty acive with version 5.0 on the Macintosh platform. The
next release / update for Windows will be multi-thread optimized.
So....
-If you have a dual cpu Mac, your ready.
-If you plan on building a machine for the land of Windows, wait a
little while and you will be able to use a dual Zeon or Athlon MP
based system.
You can call Emagic direct sales information line at 530-477-1051 for
details, or other information.
Hope this clears confusion.

im pretty much running the same system and have no midi
problems. im on 9.2.2, but id be very surprised if thats it. id be
double checking all the midi settings pages, sync, etc in logic
and id also re-route all my usb peripherals - unplug them all and
plug them back in in some different order etc. i have noticed over
the years that usb isnt nearly as plug and play as they'd have us
believe. thats about all i can suggest.
