Well, that's true for *sustained* transfer rates (IBM 120GXP drives have
44mb/s sustained rate, IBM 60GXP drives get 40mb/s) - which are definitely
the most important thing with Logic -- but thanks to the hard drive's cache,
bursts of up to 100 mb/s can be reached with ATA100. Not a *huge* difference
compared to ATA66, but when accessing a lot of different small files (e.g.
.exs instruments, presets, etc) thanks to the hard drive cache faster speeds
can be reached - just not for very long.
I totally agree ATA100 is not a huge benefit, and especially when recording
entire tracks (even just one track, let alone 64+ at once) it doesn't help
at all. I just wanted to point out ATA100 drives can go over 66 mb/s in
small bursts, which *sometimes* might speed things up very slightly.
