With 5.0... Lets say your Cord is on Track 1. Create an audio file with
a high hat or something, with the rythm you want on track 2. On Track 1,
insert the Gate plugin, and make your Sidechain track 2. Mess with the
threshold and other parameters til you get the sound you like...
You can also do this with audio instruments.
Insert instrument you want on a track. Send output to a bus. That bus,
insert a Gate Plug.
Insert 2nd instrument for rythym. Send its output to another bus.
Use the 2nd bus as the sidechain for the gateplug...
Voila...
