Subject: DSP Factory support?
Message #131
Hello Everyone, I have been away for some gigs and I am back. I am surprised to see that the list has already changed place. Cool. I want to ask Emagic if they are working on a better DSP factory support? I would like to buy a second DSP Factory and I would like to use Logic plug-ins with my set up. Some one told me that the plug-ins could be used as an insert before the audio goes in to the card. Most importantly, DSP Factory has 8 busses as hardware. For instance If I had a session in my house and I wanted to record Drums on stereo tracks but using four mikes with seperate EQ and Compressor settings. This set up will not allow me to do that. If I could use the 8 busses on the card then I could do this no problem. I could route those four in puts to 2 busses and that would be it. I also would like to say that I made my decision about buying Logic after I read an article in Electronic musician a couple of months ago. In the article it said that " Both Cubase VST24 and LAP support every function of DSP factory". I came to find out that this is not totally true. I am not saying I regret buying LAP. I found other great stuff aboutit after I pourchased it. However, I am thinking about buying another DSP factory and I would like to know if there are any solutions being worked on? Please If anyone from Emagic could answer this question I would appreciate it. Cheers Yavuz

Hey Luggers, I'd like to second what Yavuz said. But I'd like to thank Emagic for the added DS2416 support in v4.0. I had a very hard time establishing a reliable wordclock sync with my Spirit328 console. With 4.0 I haven't had a single problem with synching wordclock. Very much appreciated. I thought there was a Direct X driver planned for the DS2416 to be released this last July(?). Maybe I was dreaming or something. But anyway, thanks for a great product. Hello there, >Larry wrote; >I thought there was a Direct X driver planned for the DS2416 to be released this last >July(?). Maybe I was dreaming or something. I would like to ask Larry how this DX driver is supposed to work? I was not aware of this. Can you please tell me anything you know? Thanks I said before ; I also would like to say that I made my decision about buying Logic after I read an article in Electronic musician a couple of months ago. In the article it said that " Both Cubase VST24 and LAP support every function of DSP factory". >Bit of an overstatement That would be true unless I had added; I came to find out that this is not totally true. I am not saying I regret buying LAP. I found other great stuff aboutit after I pourchased it. Now that this is clear I would like to repeat my other questions since noone from Emagic has answered yet. If I could use the 8 busses on the card then I could do this without any problem. I could route those four in puts to 2 busses and that would be it. This bus architecture is a very important feature of DS2416 ( Originally 02R ). Or................just like Scott said earlier, >My opinion of the whole Emagic situation: >They should give up on supporting hardware such as Digi, etc, go to BeOS and develop a >serious production midi/audio recorder and editor running on a dual/quad cpu system. >It's time guys. It's time Then I would sell my DS2416 and happily buy a DUAl CPU system since I already bought BeOS and can not wait until I run Logic under it Cheers Everyone "Good things come to those who wait" ( I am sorry I can not remember who said that) Yavuz

I second this If we want to work with that card (or two of them) we need full control over the card´s features. I´ve got a superstrange unprofessionel resource -stealing submixing at this time. I love logic, but there is no workaround? Protools for the poor would be possible toni
